Giddy up cowboys and girls.
We’re about halfway through the halfway month of the year.
And usually, I like to take this time to provide a digest of letters, specifically my most popular letters of the year so far.
To date, here are the 5 most popular letters I’ve written since January, by a combination of page views and engagement:
1.
Note that I was born in Taipei, Taiwan. In the ‘80s, my father was offered and accepted a teaching position at Johnson C. Smith University, an HBCU (a historically black college/university)…
2.
Multiply a career change…
x financial crisis
x horrible job market
x relocation
x divorce + break up
= me tapping into my 401(k) money to survive before getting back on my feet. From a young age, I always had this vision that I would be a savvy businesswoman, a financial prowess.
3.
But you know what? College was a weird time for me.
I had multiple identity crises and felt like I never really belonged in any particular clique.
4.
I’m single (not married) today for a number of reasons—some obvious, others I’m working on. I’ve also written before about my previous relationships, but in a nutshell, my romantic history looks look this…
5.
I researched online and consulted a few friends for where to go and what to do, but in the end I don’t think I did half bad as a total noob…
I’m so grateful for your readership and support! It means so much.
As a natural born Manifestor according to my human design chart, my goal with this weekly letter has always been to offer helpful and practical lifestyle, travel, work, and money stories and advice.
If anything you’ve read resonates or you’ve learned something, then that’s the true reward!
Coming up in weeks ahead:
How Atlanta shaped me
How London shaped me
One week, one yacht, 8 people…sailing in Italy’s Tyrrhenian Sea
Interviews with a dating and relationship coach, and health & wellness expert

More from the Shindy-verse
Shows I’m watching
I’m watching the 2nd season of Tires on Netflix. So far, I’m in episode 2, and it’s already funnier than the 1st season.
I’m rewatching a show called Tell Me You Love Me on Max. It’s from 2007 and ran only one season, but man when it came out, it was pretty revolutionary, from its very real and frank portrayal about sex, relationships, and couples in therapy. Warning: it’s rated TV MA. There is graphic nudity and sex (in an age that predated intimacy coordinators).
As I re-watched the first episode ~18 years later, I more clearly saw in the characters the microagressions between two people that can lead to bigger issues over time. Also, you can spot a much younger Adam Scott (of Severance and Parks and Rec fame).
Still watching the forever trainwreck of And Just Like That… on Max. I mean, everyone’s so bought into these characters since Darren Star’s Sex And the City, these showrunners could do just about anything short of (spoiler alert) killing everyone off or actors dying IRL (RIP Stanford, Magda, and Bunny) for it to all truly be over.
Books I’m reading
The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company, by Bob Iger
I’m about halfway through this book and it’s solid. Business lessons from somebody who started as a set builder on ABC’s soap operas and eventually worked up to CEO. Bob’s stories about working with David Lynch and Steve Jobs are special. The Power of Positive Thinking, by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale
Just started this one more out of curiosity than anything 🤔None of This is True, by Lisa Jewell
While I recommend the story—a suspenseful, twisty, turny psychological murder mystery set in London—the audiobook is the way to go here; incredibly done with sound effects, design, and stellar narration by Kristin Atherton.
Do you use Notion for your business? 👋 I’m teaching a workshop
